With over 30 years of hands-on experience, Dr Barrett has built a reputation for delivering clear, effective treatment for a wide range of lower limb conditions. His approach blends clinical expertise with practical, real-world understanding, focusing on getting patients back to moving comfortably and confidently.
Dr Barret has spent 28 years working in private practice across the UK, along with time practising in Australia. Throughout his career, he has also worked within the NHS, most recently as part of Orthopaedic ICATS services.
Alongside clinical work, he has lectured internationally, sharing his knowledge of biomechanics and treatment approaches with other practitioners.
Education & Research
Dr Barrett began his journey in podiatry at Queen’s University Belfast, graduating in 1995. He continued to build on this foundation with a Diploma in Sports Psychology, followed by a Master of Research and ultimately a PhD from the University of Ulster in 2000.

His PhD explored how orthotic treatment affects the lower limb, with a particular focus on knee pain linked to patellofemoral joint issues, an area that still plays a key role in his work today.

While Dr Barrett specialises in foot and ankle conditions, however his expertise goes beyond that. Many lower limb issues are connected, so his work often looks at the bigger picture including the knee, hip, and lower back.
He has a particular interest in early intervention for children, as well as helping people manage and reduce everyday foot pain as they get older.
